Race for the Cure

Posted in Uncategorized on May 23rd, 2012 by Amy

This was our family’s 8th Komen Race for the Cure.  This was the first year we had a team!  Nathan, Ben, and I were joined by the Shutter-Happy staff and their families.

Everyone got a S-H tshirt, designed especially for the event.  And we girls wore our silly socks.  🙂

Just received the numbers today…

We were a handful of approximately 24,000 people that walked (and ran) on the morning of the event (May 12th).  And donations are now totalling $265,000.

Thank you to all who donated.  If you are still considering making a donation in our name, there is still time.  Please visit our team page!

Newest Staff Photos…

This was tough!  It’s hard to pose adults, especially if you’re one of them.  And having the camera on self-timer while we all shifted and changed our poses was comical.

After MANY clicks, we found a couple that we all loved.

Our Newest Employee!

d3x_7357-sh.jpgSeems like we just hired Lindsey to take over all of our advertising and marketing… and now we’re training someone new again.  Emily decided to split her job into two and totally focus on sales.  That left all the day-to-day functioning and phone work of a studio manager position open for someone new.

After a couple weeks of accepting resumes and a week of interviews, we approached Tricia Hotchkiss with the opportunity.  And she took it!

We spent Sunday welcoming her with an inaugural staff photo.  She trained with Emily and I yesterday.  And she’ll spend the next few weeks under Emily’s wings, as she teaches her everything she’ll learned over the last couple of years.

We are so excited to have Tricia on board and the newest part of our group!  Can’t wait to see what this year brings for all of us.

BEF Fundraising Gala was a Success!!!

img_0267.JPGSaturday night was amazing!!!

Shutter-Happy sponsored a table at the Boerne Education Foundation’s gala, as well as donated a portrait package worth over $2000!

We filled our table with my favorite people- my husband Nathan, studio manager Emily, her husband Lewis, marketing guru Lindsey, her husband Greg, and my best friends Myk, Marli, Josh, and Melissa.  We got to hang out, visit, and eat all night.  And some of us kept our dancing shoes on until midnight.  So much fun!!!

And our donation to the silent auction- a portrait session and any size art piece was won by one happy bidder, and raised hundreds for our schools.

We love being able to support the Boerne community and our kids’ future in this way!  If you have never heard of or looked into what this wonderful organization is up to, please do your research and do all you can to help.
