My name is Emily Christian. Amy recently hired me to be the Director of Marketing. Basically, I will be in charge of all the advertising and community involvement for Shutter-Happy. I am excited to work with Amy and Alice and to get to know this wonderful Boerne community better!
I am a stay-at-home Mom with four kids. They go to Kendall Elementary and Boerne Middle South. My youngest will be in Kindergarten next year at Kendall, and my oldest will be a Freshman at Champion High School!
I love talking with people, shopping, everything chocolate (especially if there’s peanut butter involved!), reading, sewing, being creative, hanging out on the boat, running around at Fiesta Texas with the kids, swimming, and date-nights with my cute Husband of 14 years.
Lewis and I have lived in Boerne for four years. We LOVE it here. He works from home, so we could live anywhere we want. He’s a true Texan and has always loved the Hill Country. When we decided to move, he was dead-set on Boerne. I trusted him four years ago and am so glad I did! We love the community feeling that we get from living in Boerne, the schools are amazing, and it couldn’t be more beautiful here!
I’m excited to be a part of the Shutter-Happy family!

The National Charity Model Search finalists were just announced. And one of our clients won for the entire Austin area!!!

Alice and I enjoyed a wonderful evening with our husbands at the Boerne Education Foundation’s gala… great food, fun band, a wonderful auction, and awesome friends.
And the auction item that we donated helped raise a great deal of money for our Boerne schools. Thanks so much to all who bid!
Just wanted to extend a big “WELCOME!” to Shutter-Happy’s newest member- Emily Christian. I am thrilled that you’ve decided to work with Alice and I, and I can’t wait to see what the three of us can accomplish this year! I won’t introduce Emily because I’m hoping she’ll make herself right at home here on the blog.
But I will tell you that she is now in charge of all marketing ideas and community involvement for us. We’ve donated a gift certificate for a free portrait session and any size art piece to the Hill Country Montessori for their Buckaroo Breakfast on Saturday, February 20th. This event is open to the public. Be sure to attend and bid on our auction item to support this wonderful school!
We have donated three gift certificates to Cub Scout Pack 102 for their Blue and Gold Banquet on Saturday, February 27th. Gift certificates are: free session and enlargement, free session and portrait purse, and free session and pack of Christmas cards.
And we’ve also donated a gift certificate for a free session and any size art piece to the Boerne Education Foundation for their Rock on the Serengeti event. This gala and auction is used to raise money for all of our schools, so I highly encourage you to attend and help this be a success! Don’t miss it on Saturday, March 27th.
I attended a seminar a couple of weeks ago in Austin. The tour entitled “Family First”, given by Master Photographer Sandy Puc, focused on family portrait work. From making the initial marketing piece, to planning these fun sessions, all the way to printing, the speaker covered all aspects of focusing on the special relationships in every family that walks through our doors.

The current winning family for the Austin/San Antonio/hill country area in the National Charity Model Search is the Coward family!
(The attached portrait is the current winning image and was taken over the Thanksgiving holiday, along the Guadalupe River.)
As the current winner, the Cowards were invited to drive to Austin to pose for a photography conference that is currently touring the country. As models, they served as a teaching device for all budding and novice photographers in the room. As the winners, they will also be receiving all of the images taken last night free of charge.
We were thrilled to learn that one of our portraits was a winning image! And we were very excited for this opportunity for the Coward family. Congrats, guys!!!

Did you hear about our new gifts to you? Every image that you print from your session, you will receive as a FREE 5×7 (72dpi) watermarked digital file! You can use these to show off your family and kids through your cell phone, your digital frame, your personal website, Facebook, etc. And this is effective retroactively to January of this year.
